What makes it different

DOYT is an iOS to-do app with one idea: the task you're working on should stay visible even while you use other apps. It pins your current task to the Dynamic Island and the Lock Screen via Live Activities, so it's there while you text, scroll, or watch videos. You don't open DOYT to make progress — touch and hold the Dynamic Island or use the Lock Screen controls to complete a task (the next one appears immediately) or move it to Later. iPhones without a Dynamic Island can still use the Lock Screen Live Activities.

An optional focus timer comes with presets for 30 min, 90 min, 3 h, or 8 h; when it hits zero, the session wraps up and your list stays exactly as you left it, with a notification or alarm (alarm requires iOS 26+). Sessions start in seconds — tap Start, or use Control Center controls, Shortcuts, or Siri when your hands are full. Completed tasks are recorded in a history calendar by date, with search across past tasks and completion records, plus undo for tasks you completed by mistake. Control Center controls require iOS 18+, and iOS policies may hide an inactive session from the Island and Lock Screen after 8 hours (the list itself never changes).

The pricing is deliberately simple: core features — Dynamic Island, Lock Screen, Complete, Later, history calendar, search, Shortcuts, and timer presets — stay free forever, with no time or usage limits. Customization (Lock Screen and Island layouts, colors, photo-based palettes, shareable style presets) is unlocked automatically for the first 3 days after install, no payment method required and nothing charged when the 3 days end; keeping it afterward is a one-time DOYT Pro purchase, never a recurring subscription. There are no ads, and there is no account at all — your task lists and completion history are stored locally on the iPhone and never sent to external servers.

DOYT was built by indie maker Roa Lee (Indie maker @ PawPaw, the App Store seller behind the app) and launched on Product Hunt as "The Dynamic Island to-do app you don't have to open." The app's name says it plainly — Don't Open Your Todo — and everything in it is designed around that single behavior: less time managing lists, more time getting things done.
