What makes it different

Openbroca is a native Swift AI dictation app for Mac — a 6.5 MB download that lives in your notch. Press Option+Space and talk the way you normally do: Openbroca turns it into clean, ready-to-send text right where your cursor is, inside emails, messages, notes, docs and AI prompts. The pitch is "Talk messy. Read clean": no prompts to engineer, no app-switching to edit. Speech goes in rambling and comes out as polished writing that still sounds like you.

It is Mac-only and built natively in Swift as a universal Apple silicon and Intel build (macOS 15 or later). Speech recognition and text cleanup run in the cloud, so it needs an internet connection — the tradeoff for an app this small, and the company says it stores no audio. The feature set: dictation in 30 languages with automatic language detection, talk-to-translate into 28 output languages, a personal dictionary for names and preferred spellings that learns from your corrections, and optional Screen Context (OCR) that uses visible on-screen names as spelling hints. There is a dictionary import for people switching from Typeless — no accident: the site calls itself "the best Typeless alternative for Mac" and publishes comparison pages against Wispr Flow, superwhisper, MacWhisper, Apple Dictation and Typeless.

It is built by Timothy Lau, verified twice: the site's own schema names him Founder (x.com/thetimothylau), and he is the sole maker on the Product Hunt launch. Pricing is unusual in a good way: every feature works on the free plan — free is 3,000 text units a week with no card required, and paying only buys quota, not features. Unlimited costs $6.99 a month or $59.99 a year, as an auto-renewing subscription or a one-time payment for a fixed period, and there is a one-time CNY 9.90 pack of 30,000 credits that never expire. A native Windows app is on the waitlist roadmap.
