What makes it different

The slow part of building UI with an AI coding agent is not the coding — it is the describing. You can see the fix in half a second, then spend five minutes writing a paragraph about it: describing a four-pixel gap, naming a component you could simply point at, pasting selectors, taking screenshots, explaining which card you meant. Every loop loses the thing that made the change obvious in the first place: you were looking right at it.

Skisso removes that translation step. It is a Chrome extension that sits in the gap between where your agent works (the terminal, blind to the pixels) and where you work (the interface, the actual element). Hover any element on the live page — buttons, cards, a whole section, a single line of type, on localhost, staging or production — and click. Then change it for real: spacing, colour, type, layout, the copy itself. It is honest CSS on the live page, so what you see is what your agent will get. You edit in your own design system: your tokens, your components, a shadcn/ui kit that matches your styles.

One keystroke turns everything you touched into a patch: the element's address (a selector), the properties, and the old value beside the new one — optionally with your intent line and a screenshot. Not a screenshot to interpret, not a paragraph to parse: a patch with an address, a before, and an after. Paste it into any agent, or connect over MCP with npx skisso. In their test, the handoff cost about 380 tokens instead of 25,700 for the prose version.

Skisso was built by Zakabluk A., a product designer in Sweden (WebbRiddare), who spent two years building client work, prototypes and his own products with an AI agent next to him and kept wishing for exactly this tool. It started as his private tool and is now free on the Chrome Web Store — no account, runs entirely locally.
