Spiralens

What makes it different

Most camera grids draw a few lines and leave the rest to you. Spiralens is a golden ratio camera that tells you where to move your phone, so your photos come out balanced without learning the rules first. Tap what you want to photograph — dashed circles point out a few likely subjects if you are not sure — then follow the arrow on the screen while the app keeps track of what you tapped. When the ring turns green, your subject sits on the golden ratio point of the frame and the camera angle suits it; you can shoot at any moment, since green is a guide, not a rule.

Composition guides cover the golden spiral overlay (the Fibonacci spiral), the phi grid, the rule of thirds, symmetry, and a level horizon, with presets for portraits, faces, groups, pets, food, products, landscapes, architecture, and close-ups. While you shoot, it finds the eye nearest the camera in portraits and leaves space on the side the person is looking, small on-device models suggest up to three subjects without ever choosing for you, a level indicator keeps horizons straight, and short tips cover light and angle — backlight, low light, leaning buildings, food from the side or from above. Auto capture fires once everything lines up, manual ISO and shutter speed are available on supported phones, and a full resolution mode keeps all the pixels.

After the shot, the editor adds a portrait-style background blur that keeps your target sharp (you decide how much), a golden-ratio crop that puts your subject on the guide with drag-to-fine-tune, straighten, and crops to 4:5, square, 16:9, or cinema, plus stylized Looks. Spiralens is published on Google Play by Owl App and was launched on Product Hunt as “Golden ratio camera that tells you where to move your phone” by maker Mehmet. It is free on Google Play with ads and in-app purchases.
