Voicy

What makes it different

Voicy (usevoicy.com) is Kourosh Ghaffari's AI speech-to-text app: Whisper-powered dictation that works everywhere — Chrome extension, Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android — promising writing at 3x the speed of typing. Pro plans start at $8.49/month. Note: this is a different product from the Rotterdam sound-clip platform that happens to share the name.

It started as a fun tool Ghaffari built for his dad, who was struggling with typing. People began downloading the Chrome extension organically from the Chrome Web Store — with zero marketing spend — and Ghaffari turned it into a serious side project, expanding to every platform. The positioning bet: seniors and accessibility users, a customer segment the well-funded dictation incumbents ignored.

The numbers, via Startup Finder (October 2026): about $11,277 in MRR across 1,400 subscribers — matching the ~$11K MRR Ghaffari self-reports in his X bio (@BuildingWaves), where he builds in public. Total monthly revenue runs $16,000–$20,000 including lifetime deals; that's reported separately and not mixed into the MRR figure.
