How AEO Engine hit $70K MRR: the SEO veteran who saw AI search coming

Vijay C. Jacob spent a decade in SEO and performance marketing, built ProductScope AI to 50,000+ brands, then spotted the platform shift before anyone else: people stopped searching and started asking. AEO Engine's 50+ AI agents now make brands the answer in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews — at $70K MRR and climbing.

A decade of SEO scars

Vijay Jacob didn't stumble into answer engine optimization. He earned it the hard way: over a decade in SEO and performance marketing, founding UGC Engine (a social media content automation platform), then FosterFBA, an Amazon advertising agency established in 2018. His previous venture, ProductScope AI, grew to serve more than 50,000 brands globally.

That history matters because AEO Engine isn't a pivot — it's a thesis built on watching search evolve. Jacob lived through every Google algorithm update, every shift from keywords to entities to intent. When large language models started answering questions directly instead of linking to pages, he recognized the pattern: another platform shift, and the people who move first win the compounding advantage.

His co-founder and strategic advisor, Dan Ashburn, brought complementary firepower: co-founder of Titan Network, an INC 5000-recognized elite Amazon seller mastermind whose members generate nine figures in annual Amazon sales. Between Jacob's search expertise and Ashburn's ecommerce operator network, AEO Engine launched with both the technical chops and the distribution to matter immediately.

50 agents, one thesis: be the answer

AEO Engine's platform automates answer-engine visibility using a network of 50+ AI agents that continuously create, optimize, and publish content tailored for AI discovery. The methodology has four pillars: LLM-ready content formatted as question-answer pairs that AI can quote directly; entity and structured-data optimization so models understand what a brand is; topical authority development; and third-party validation — building citations on platforms AI systems trust, including Reddit, Quora, and industry publications.

An extended outreach team handles link building, Reddit and Quora seeding, traditional PR, and advanced tactics like audio overviews and social media repurposing — all autonomously. It's the agency model rebuilt for a world where the "search results page" is a conversation.

The client results are concrete. DI ORO tripled organic search traffic in 180 days, with customers now discovering products via ChatGPT. Dominate Dental secured AI Overview placement for high-intent commercial keywords. Gourmend Foods achieved visibility across both traditional search and AI answer engines. These aren't vanity metrics — they're the exact outcomes clients pay for: being present when an AI recommends a product.

The Answer Index: marketing as public infrastructure

AEO Engine's smartest move might be The Answer Index — a free public ranking of the law firms AI assistants recommend most. There's no email gate, no sponsorship, and no way to pay for a position. Editions are measured over the first three days of each month and published on the fifth, with month-over-month movers and fallers.

As Jacob put it at launch: when someone asks an AI assistant to recommend a lawyer, the answer usually contains a handful of firms, and most firms have no way of knowing whether they're in it. The Answer Index makes that visible — using the same measurement the company runs for clients, published monthly as a public record.

The gap between name recognition and AI visibility is the whole pitch. The board lets anyone check whether the firms with the biggest advertising budgets are the ones AI assistants actually recommend. It's content marketing, product demo, and industry infrastructure in one — and it positions AEO Engine as the authority defining how AI visibility gets measured.

Industry recognition followed. Digital Reference named Jacob a top AEO consultant, noting the emergence of founder-led agencies focused specifically on AI search optimization. New York's concentration of enterprise and media companies made it a natural hub — and Jacob's firm was early to claim the territory.

What's next: the measurement standard

AEO Engine is positioning itself not just as a service provider but as the company that defines how AI visibility gets measured. The Answer Index expanding across verticals — law firms today, more industries tomorrow — creates a public dataset that only AEO Engine can produce, because only they run the measurement infrastructure.

It's a classic wedge: give away the measurement, sell the improvement. Every firm that checks the Index and finds itself invisible is a qualified lead who already understands the problem. The $70K MRR is the current score; the Index is the compounding asset.

The playbook

  1. Bet on the platform shift early — Jacob recognized AI answers replacing search results as the same pattern he'd seen for a decade. First movers get compounding data advantages.
  2. Pair technical depth with distribution — Jacob's SEO expertise plus Ashburn's nine-figure ecommerce network meant the company launched with both product and pipeline.
  3. Give away the measurement, sell the fix — The Answer Index is free public infrastructure that generates qualified leads who already understand their problem.
  4. Build for the new interface — 50+ AI agents creating LLM-ready content is the agency model rebuilt for conversational search, not retrofitted for it.
  5. Make results undeniable — Tripled traffic, AI Overview placements, ChatGPT discovery. Clients pay for outcomes, and AEO Engine publishes them.
